HYDERABAD, Sept 12: A grower has appealed to the authorities to provide him protection against a policeman and his supporters who, he said, fired at him and are threatening him with dire consequences if he does not withdraw a case against them.

Speaking at a news conference here on Friday, Mohammad Yamin Jamali of Faqir Mohammad Jamali village, Johi talka, Dadu district, said that on Sept 2 he was watering his fields when police head constable Mohammad Umer and his supporters, who were armed with deadly weapons, came there and said that it was their turn of water and started abusing him.

Mohammad Yamin Jamali said that when he protested, Ghulam Murtaza Jamali and Umer fired at him and injured him. He said that he was taken to a Dadu hospital from where he was refereed to Liaquat University Hospital, Hyderabad.

He said that his cousin Abbas Ali Jamali lodged an FIR at Johi police station but the police have failed to arrest the accused.

He said that the accused had made the lives of his family miserable as they were being threatened with dire consequences if the FIR was not withdrawn.

Mohammad Yamin Jamali said that they were not even able to visit their land and appealed for protection and justice.
