LC margin

Published September 10, 2008

KARACHI, Sept 9: The Karachi Wholesale Grocers Association (KWGA) has demanded immediate withdrawal of LC margin on import of pulses to ease their prices in the local market.

KWGA chairman Anis Majeed on Tuesday said that the government had withdrawn the 35 per cent LC margin requirement on various food items, but not on pulses.

In a letter to State Bank of Pakistan Governor Dr Shamshad Akhtar, he said that pulses were essential items that had already become costlier owing to devaluation of the rupee against the dollar. — Staff Reporter
