PARACHINAR, Sept 8: Eleven people were killed and 14 injured as clashes continued in the Kurram region on Monday despite a ceasefire declared by the warring tribes.

Reports of gubattles were received from Pewar, Baleshkhel, Khawar Kalley and Sadda areas.

The injured were taken to hospitals in Bagan, Alizai, Sadda and Parachinar.

Sources in the political administration said that although the Turi and Bangash tribes had declared a ceasefire, some unscrupulous elements in both the tribes were attacking each other’s positions with mortars, missiles and rocket-launchers.

At least 700 people have been killed and over 1,000 injured in five weeks of clashes in the region.
