BEIJING, Sept 8: A mud and rock slide triggered by heavy rains killed 26 people on Monday in northern China.

Officials and state media reported that the slide also collapsed a mine warehouse.

Several others remained trapped in the debris of the warehouse in the city of Linfen in Shanxi province, the official Xinhua news agency said, citing local work safety board officials. The exact figure was not immediately known.

An official at the work safety board confirmed the deaths, but could not tell how many people were missing.
