LANDI KOTAL, Sept 7: A banned militant organisation in Bara tehsil of Khyber Agency has blamed Afghan government for the killing of their leader Haji Namdar, who was murdered on August 13.

Talking to journalists on Sunday a spokesman of the outlawed organisation, Amar Bil Maroof wa Nahi Anil Munkir, Munsif Ali Khan claimed that his they had sufficient documentary proof of the involvement of Kabul in the killing of their leader. Mr Khan said that they would soon release a video to substantiate their claim.

He said that teen-aged boy killer of Haji Namdar had also provided them sufficient information about the assassination plan, which was made in

Kabul.

He alleged that some self-proclaimed jihadi organisations were also involved in the murder of their leader.

He told journalists that their organisation had appointed Niaz Gul as their new amir.

After the murder of Haji Namdar the organisation had immediately appointed Haji Hukam as acting amir. Mr Hukam announced on Sunday to step down citing health reasons.

Meanwhile, a controversial cleric Mufti Ejaz of Landi Kotal surrendered to the political administration on Sunday assuring the authorities of his good conduct with local tribal elders as guarantors, officials said.

Political tehsildar Javed Mehsood told Dawn that the controversial cleric presented Rs7 million security bond to the administration saying that he would desist from involvement in objectionable activities.

The cleric also assured the administration that he and his colleagues would not invite or harbour any non-local militants or saboteurs in Landi Kotal, Mr Mehsood said adding that a jirga of Khugakhel tribesmen guaranteed his good conduct in future.
