KARACHI, Sept 6: A 35-year-old man was killed in an attack on his car in Tariq Bin Ziyad Housing Society near Malir Halt on early Saturday morning.

Al-Falah police said Rafique Mazhar, son of Mohammad Yaqoob, and his second wife were going to the residence of his first wife at Rafi Bungalows in Malir at around 4am when two attackers on a motorcycle intercepted them. They opened fire when the victim did not stop, police said, adding that the fatally wounded victim was first taken to a nearby private hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Later, the body was shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for a post-mortem examination. Hospital sources said the victim had received a single bullet in his chest that proved fatal.

The police said the victim, hailing from Azad Kashmir, was a construction contactor. His father lodged a murder case (FIR 226/2008) against unidentified culprits.
