LAHORE: Boy dies doing a wheelie

LAHORE, Sept 3: A teenager lost his life while performing stunts on his motorcycle in Shafeeqabad on Wednesday.

Asif of Bagh Munshi Ludha and his pillion, Billo, were doing wheelie when the 15-year-old lost control and the two-wheeler hit an electric pole. Asif was taken to Mayo Hospital where he was pronounced dead. Billo was taken to the Lahore General Hospital in critical condition.

The duty officer of Shafeeqabad police, however, expressed his ignorance about the incident.

ACCIDENT: A 35-year-old man died while six people, including two women, were injured when a speeding tractor-trolley hit a motorcycle rickshaw near Sabzi Mandi Ravi Road on Wednesday.

Naeem, 35, Kabeer, 27, Fatima, 47, Sabran, 50, Rakha, 27, and two unidentified people were on their way on a motorcycle-rickshaw when the tractor-trolley laden with bricks hit their rickshaw and turned turtle.

Naeem died on the spot while the injured were taken to Mayo and Services hospitals.

In another incident, a 35-year-old man was run over by a speeding van in the Kot Lakhpat area on Wednesday.

According to Edhi officials, Awais was crossing a road when the van ran him over, killing him on the spot.

FIRE: Books worth Rs100,000 reduced to ashes when a fire broke out in a book depot owned by Zulfikar in Urdu Bazaar on Wednesday. The cause of fire was short-circuit.
