MARDAN, Sept 3: The protest of the sacked employees of a local sugar mill entered into the 65th day here on Wednesday.

They sacked workers complained that neither the mill management nor the government came forward to solve their problem. The management of the Frontier Sugar Mills Takhtbai had sacked more than 100 employees following the decision of the closing down of the mill due to non-availability of sugarcane.

Employees of the mill are continuously staging demonstrations on the main Mardan-Malakand rod and on Wednesday they held Khatm-i-Quran along with their children in front of the mill and prayed for their reinstatement.

Later, they chanted slogans against the management and demanded that they should be reinstated immediately. They also announced that employees of the mill would stage a set-in in front of the parliament.

The protest was led by labour leader Haji Mohammad Zaman while Ajmeer Khan, Rehman Gul, Zahir Shah and others spoke on the occasion.—Correspondent
