LEA officer, others booked

SANGHAR, May 7: An officer of a law enforcement agency (LEA) and his accomplices were booked by Tando Adam police for allegedly assaulting and occupying the houses of the complainant on Monday.

The complainant, Allah Bux Makrani, in his FIR No 62/2002 has stated that he along with other peasants used to work on the lands of Piaro Khan at Deh Bhatti.

On Monday, an officer of a law enforcement agency, Aijaz Pathan, along with some six others in uniform and some people of the Magsi clan including Abdul Shakoor and Ghulam Magsi, came to their houses in two private vehicles.

The complainant alleged that the personnel of the law enforcement agency and people from the Magsi clan, on the orders of the said officer, attacked them with hatchets, sticks and also resorted to aerial firing.

As a result of which a peasant, Raza Muhammad, his wife Sehar Bano and another woman Hawa were injured.

The complainant said that the assailants took away two licensed guns, three cows, 18 goats, Rs 20,000 cash, one bicycle and other household articles. They also forcibly occupied their houses, they alleged.

It is learnt that the land in dispute, measuring about 13 acres, was sold to Piaro Bhatti by Abdullah and others in 1998. The officer, Aijaz Pathan, also claims the ownership of the land. The case is pending in the court. Initially police were reluctant to register the FIR, but on the intervention of Nazim UC-4 Tando Adam, Zulfiqar Malik and a local PPP leader Gul Hassan, a case was booked.

HUTS GUTTED: Ten huts belonging to Amlak Bheel, Majoo, Kamoo, Aatam Bheel, Ramazan, Ghulam Muhammad and others, were gutted in village Mir Azam Talpur near Jhol on Monday.

SHOT DEAD: A sweet meat dealer Muhammad Akram Arain was shot dead by accused Wali Muhammad Chang at village Allahyar Mari near Tando Adam the other day as revenge for sending him to jail some six months ago.

The accused had been released from jail some 13 days ago. According to reports, the accused used to tease Zahid, teenage son of the deceased. Akram Arain had lodged a case against Wali Muhammad and sent him to jail.
