MINGORA, Sept 1: Several militants were killed and others received injuries when jet fighters and helicopter gunships pounded their hideouts in Peuchar, Shakardara and other areas in Upper Swat on Monday.

Military spokesman in Swat said that fighter jets targeted positions of militants loyal to hardliner cleric Maulana Fazlullah in Peuchar area.

He added that several suspected militants were either killed or injured in the bombing.

The security forces, backed by helicopter gunships and artillery, continued targeting hideouts of militants in Shakardara and other areas of Matta, Kabal and Charbagh tehsils.
