Edibles’ supply to Bajaur ordered

LAHORE, Aug 31: Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has directed the relief committee to coordinate with the NWFP government to ensure supply of edibles to the affected people in the Bajaur Agency.

He further directed members of the committee, set up under the chairmanship of Zafar Iqbal Jhagra, to review personally the requirements of the affected people keeping in view their problems.

The chief minister said: “Bajaur affectees are our brothers and their assistance is our moral, national and religious duty and we will continue their support on humanitarian ground.”

According to a handout, the Punjab government has so far provided aid to more than 300,000 people of Bajaur. Provincial Excise and Taxation Minister Mian Mujtaba Shujaur Rehman, as a representative of the Punjab government, handed over 34 trucks of essential food items to the NWFP government.
