Faiz Ganj villagers decry power cut

KHAIRPUR, Oct 24: A large number of villagers belonging to 15 villages of taluka Faiz Ganj continued their demonstrations on the third consecutive day on Wednesday against the loadshedding in the area.

The affected villages included Karoondi, Rannar, Shahan Shar, Pakka Chang and others.

The protesters staged sit-in on the Bhango Bihan-Pakka Chang road for three hours.

DRYING CROPS: Crops standing over thousands of acres have started drying up due to water shortage in taluka Bhirya.

Irrigation department has introduced rotation system, which has added to the woes of growers, who reportedly staged protest sit-in outside local press club for two hours.

According to growers, no irrigation water has been supplied in small canals of Sangi, Badak, Bhariya, Dali and Deengo.

GROWERS: Following the suspension of the engineer irrigation, east division, Khairpur, no engineer has been posted since the last four months.

The executive engineer was suspended following a huge breach in the Mirwah Canal at RD-222 in June 2001.

The growers of four talukas — Faiz Ganj, Thari Mirwah, Kot Diji and Khairpur — have been facing great difficulties in the absence of an engineer.
