KARACHI, Aug 28: National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) beat Karachi Port Trust (KPT) 2-1 and Habib Bank Limited (HBL) edged past Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) 1-0 here in the Pakistan Premier Football League (PPFL) matches played simultaneously at the Korangi Baloch Stadium and Peoples Sports Complex on Thursday evening.

The match at Korangi Baloch Stadium between NBP and KPT saw all the goals being scored by the bankers. NBP’s spearhead Farooq Shah opened for them through his solo effort in the ninth minute followed by an own goal by their defender Yasin Sabir while trying to clear KPT winger Mohammad Asif’s cross pass inside their box in the 34th minute.

The score at interval was 1-1.

Farooq came to his side’s rescue once again in the 78th minute, through his own solo effort.

Meanwhile, after a barren first half in the other match between HBL and PIA at Peoples Sports Complex, HBL managed to score in the 67th minute through their striker Bilal Ahmed.

Friday’s fixtures: Wapda v Navy at Railway Stadium, Lahore; Afghan Football Club v Karachi Electric Supply Corportaion at Govt High School, Chaman. Matches kickoff at 5.30pm.
