DERA ISMAIL KHAN, Oct 24: Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman has said that the policies adopted by President Pervez Musharraf are leading the country to civil unrest.

He said this, while talking to party leaders, who called on him at his residence on Tuesday night.

Maulana Fazl, who is under house-arrest for staging anti-US demonstrations, said the continuing US attacks on Taliban positions had failed to destabilize the Taliban government.

A so-called broad-based, multi-racial government would lead the war-torn country to total destruction, he said and adding that “this is not acceptable to the people of Afghanistan.”
