Demo staged against postmaster

NAUSHAHRO FEROZE, Aug 22: A large number of poor people, including women, carrying Baitul Maal pass books, staged demonstration outside press club here on Friday to protest against the local postmaster.

They told journalists that they had been called again and again by the postmaster of Naushahro Feroze for payment of subsistence allowance but they were refused payment. They said that now the postmaster has advised them to collect the payment after Eidul Fitr.

They said they were poor and spending money each time on travelling as they were residing in far flung areas.

Meanwhile, employees of Scarp division of irrigation department took out a procession and observed token hunger strike outside the press club here on Friday, demanding job quota for sons of deceased employees.

Around 60 employees, led by general secretary of Sindh Irrigation Workers United Federation, Iqbal Larik, took out a procession from Scarp office and after marching on different roads, reached press club. They observed token hunger strike for five hours.

They said that they were demanding quota in jobs for the sons of deceased employees. They said they had not voted MNAs and MPAs to take jobs for people of their own choice and deprive the heirs of deceased employees.

Mohammad Yaqoob said that the bureaucracy was creating hurdle despite the approved policy.
