Suspected polio case in Mithi

MITHI, Aug 21: A suspected case of polio has been found by doctors of Mithi Civil Hospital.

Officials of the health department told Dawn on Thursday that a three-year-old paralysed girl, Manta, daughter of Jesaram Bheel, of Hilan village, Mithi taluka, was brought to Mithi Civil Hospital on Aug 14. After examining her, samples of her stool were sent to the National Institute of Health, Islamabad, and the report was expected in 10 days, they added.

Answering a question whether another child, Chandan, 2, son of Sobho Bheel, resident of Nathro village, Mithi taluka, was inflicted with polio, the officials said that they had read such news in newspapers and a team of doctors had been sent to the village to verify the reports.
