QUETTA, Aug 20: Intense gunfire shook Hub town on Wednesday after police raided the residence of a former DCO of Dera Bugti to arrest the people involved in firing on the office of the Balochistan assembly speaker in Hub town on Monday night.

According to sources, police traced the vehicle used in the firing back to the residence of Samad Lasi, but avoided raiding the house because it was being protected by the Frontier Corps.

However, when FC personnel were withdrawn on the orders of the interior ministry, police raided the house but instead of handing over the accused, armed men there escaped after firing for some time.

Chased by police, the accused abandoned their vehicles and slipped into the mountainous Winder area in Lasbela. Police found rocket shells in one of the vehicles.

The sources said that Chief Minister Nawab Aslam Raisani had taken serious notice of the firing at the speaker’s office in Hub and ordered the arrest of the people involved in the incident.
