LAHORE, Aug 20: In order to avoid suspension for violating one of the clauses of the National Sports Policy 2005, which restricts the president, secretary and treasurer of a sports federation to hold office for a maximum of two terms, the Pakistan Karate Federation’s (PKF) main office-bearers switched positions with each other.

According to a PKF press release, the General Council unanimously elected Mohammad Jahangir, the former secretary as the new president, Shamim Ahmad as honorary secretary and Andleeb Ahmar treasurer for the remainder of the tenure, which ends on Dec 10, 2009.

Meanwhile, former hockey Olympian Munir Ahmed Dar, who has already completed more than two terms as PKF’s president, has been elevated to the position of patron.
