ISLAMABAD, Aug 18: Pakistan Peoples Party co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari has thanked Muttahida Qaumi Movement's chief, Altaf Hussain for his positive role during the recent political developments that led to the resignation of President Pervez Musharraf.

In a statement issued here on Monday by party media office, PPP co-chairman thanked all the democratic forces, including MQM for helping the coalition government to force Musharraf to quit.

He said it was a momentous day for the democracy and the people as the political forces had been able to roll back the frontiers of dictatorship. "This return to democracy has seen some very violent moments including the assassination of Mohtarama Shaheed Benazir Bhutto", he added.
