Exporter injured

SIALKOT, Aug 18: Some unidentified armed men shot injured a surgical instruments exporter in his house after his refusal to pay them extortion money (Jagga Tax) here at Bhabharaanwala-Uggoki on Monday.

Reports said some people were demanding Rs1 million from Abid Husain, 39, but he refused to pay them. On Monday, the accused stormed into his house, held family members hostage, beat them up and shot injured Abid Husain.

He was shifted to Allama Iqbal Memorial DHQ Hospital in a critical condition.

The Uggoki police have registered a case, with no arrest.

LOOTED: Three dacoits looted cash, mobile phones and other valuables worth Rs200,000 from the factory of Daska-based journalist Zahid Mahmood Goraya here on Monday.

Reports said the accused forced their entry into the marble factory, held hostage Zahid and others and made off with valuables.
