BUNER, Aug 18: Police raided hideouts of suspected militants in Daggar Tangay on Monday and arrested two persons, officials said.

The two detained persons were identified as Mukhtiar and Bakhti Rawan. Police also claimed to have recovered arms and ammunition from their possession, including 10 rocket shells, two police pocket phones and other equipment.

The items taken away from the Kingargali police post after killing eight personnel last week were also among the recovered arms.

The crackdown against suspected people was launched in the district after the killing of four local persons.

JIRGA: The Gadezai Qaumi Jirga has expressed concern over the bloodshed in the region, seeking action against those involved in the killing of innocent people.

The jirga held at Gadezai ground on Sunday was attended by leaders and workers of political parties, religious organisations, elites of the area and a large number of common people.

The participants of the jirga appreciated the inhabitants of Shalbandi village for their action against militants and assured them of their full support.

The jirga also formed an eight-member committee for maintenance of peace in the area. Haji Sardar Khan, Haji Jehanzeb Khan, Azwar Shah, Afsar Khan, Shahjehan Khan, Mohammad Hanif and Mian Syed Laiq Bacha are members of the peace committee.
