PESHAWAR, Aug 18: Unidentified persons on Sunday night planted a bomb near a net café-cum-public call office in Gulbahar, which went off with a big bang and damaged its building. However, no loss of life was reported.

The net café is located at Asad Anwar Colony at Daura Road in the thickly populated Gulbahar Colony in old city area.

The owner of the café, Liaquat Ali Durrani, told police that he had no enmity and the explosion was beyond his expectation. He added that by running the café he was doing nothing wrong.

Police said a case was registered against unidentified terrorists at the Gulbahar police station, but no one had so far been arrested.

In another incident, militants again attacked the Mattani police station with light and heavy machineguns but the security forces repulsed the attack. A police official said that militants had targeted the police station from all directions and continued frequent firing but no casualty was reported.

Meanwhile, the local people have expressed their concern over firing in the air area, saying have been forced to remain in-door after the sunset because of the fear of stray bullets.

Ahmed Ali, an elder of the area, told this scribe that the frequent attacks on the police station had made lives of the local people miserable.

He demanded of the government to take some drastic steps against the criminals and root them out once for all so that the people could continue their routine activities without any fear. The people, he said, were unable to move feely in the area as they felt insecure.
