JACOBABAD, Aug 17: Members of civil society and human rights activists took out a rally against the illegal confinement and physical and mental torture on Dr Aafia Siddiqui here on Sunday.

Led by Dr A.G. Ansari, the chairman of the Human Rights Group, the rally started from Shaheed Sarfaraz chowk and after marching through different roads, reached at the DCO chowk where the participants staged a sit-in.

The protesters were carrying banners, placards and were distributing handbills for the safe and immediate release of Dr Aafia Siddiqui from the US custody.

Speaking on the occasion they condemned the physical and mental torture on Dr Aafia and threatened to launch a massive protest drive.
