KARACHI, Aug 13: The inaugural Magna National Disabled Cricket Twenty20 League will be staged in a befitting manner, Test cricketer Younis Khan announced here on Wednesday.

Speaking here at the Karachi Press Club, Younis, Director of the Pakistan Disabled Cricket Association, said the league, which will start on Aug 19, would have everything in it.

“The league will be staged in the best possible way. I ask sponsors to come forward and help us in this great cause,” he stated.

Younis also said eight city-based teams are participating in the event — divided into two groups. Karachi, Multan, Faisalabad and Peshawar are placed in group ‘A’ while Lahore, Quetta, Hyderabad and Islamabad are placed in group ‘B’.

Two teams from each group will qualify for the semi-finals after the league matches.

Winners of the league will receive a prize of Rs100,000 while the runners-up will bag Rs50,000.

The League games will be held at the PCB Cricket Academy and Aga Khan University ground. Semi-finals are scheduled to be played on Aug 23 at Aga Khan Gymkhana and TMC ground. The final will be played at the Asghar Ali Shah Stadium under floodlights on Aug 24.—Agencies
