KARACHI, Aug 13: Two ships carrying containers and iron ore were accommodated berths during the last 24 hours, said a PQA press release on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, three more ships to load/offload cement and containers also arrived at the outer anchorage.

Eight ships, Maersk Ohio, AI-Mansourah, Alexi-1, Alabama Belle, Sinar Agra, Transport, Vema Ocean and Dubai Crown, were busy in loading and unloading containers, cement, wheat, chemicals, palm oil, furnace oil and iron ore.

A cargo volume of 79,195 metric tons comprising 60,666 tons of import and 18,629 tons of export tonnage was handled.

Maersk Delmont, Sinar Agra and Vema Ocean sailed out while Maersk Ohio and Transport were expected to leave the port.

Three ships, CMA CGM Elffel, Hellenic Horizon and Yanaseni with containers, iron ore and chemicals, were due to arrive at the port. While dour more ships, Inori, OOCL Kobe, MV Faruke and AI-Soor-II, were likely to arrive on Thursday.
