GHALANAI, Aug 11: Unidentified persons blew up Ghazi Baig checkpost, vacated by the paramilitary troops a few days ago, in Haleemzai tehsil of Mohmand Agency on Monday.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attack. The paramilitary troops had vacated the post when they moved to forward positions along the Afghan border.

Meanwhile, a driver of Upper Mohmand political tehsildar identified as Hassan Khan and another employee Duran Khan were kidnapped by unidentified armed men from Qandaro area of tehsil Safi on Monday.

They had gone there in a private vehicle to offer condolences over the death of a relative. Political administration officials confirmed the kidnapping. No group has claimed responsibility for the incident.

Meanwhile, thousands of tribal people from Bajaur Agency were migrating to Peshawar, Charsadda, Mardan, Nowshera and other districts due to ongoing fighting between the security forces and militants.

The heavy shelling and bombing on the hideouts of the militants by gunship helicopters and jetfighters forced the local tribesmen to vacate their houses and move to safer places in the adjoining districts.

The people from Charmang, Arang Barang, Lowi Sam, Nawagai, Upper Chamarkands in Bajaur region and Lower Chamarkand, Khweyzai, Utmanzai, Dowazai and Qandaro in Mohmand Agency vacated their native towns.

In Mohamad Gut and Mamandi Bazaar local people were collecting donations to arrange food items for the affected people and arrange their transportation to Peshawar and other districts of the Frontier province.

Residents of the area have called upon the government and influential people to set up relief camps for the displaced persons.
