TOBA TEK SINGH, May 6: Owing to undeserving applicants, the district Nazim has stopped the draw for the allotment of 800 residential plots of various low income housing schemes.

An official said here on Monday that the Housing and Physical Department had received thousands of applications for plots in housing schemes of Pirmahal, Gojra, Kamalia and Toba Tek Singh, but most of the applicants were undeserving.

He said the district Nazim had formed committees in all three tehsils to scrutinize the applications. Union council Nazims of respective tehsils and press club presidents had also been included in these committees, he said.

The scrutiny at Toba Tek Singh tehsil would be completed by May 8, Gojra tehsil by May 9 and Kamalia tehsil by May 10, he maintained.

The official said under the new schedule the draw for Gojra and Toba Tek Singh housing schemes would be held on May 13 and for Pirmahal and Kamalia on May 14.

SOWING: The Agriculture Department has recommended the sowing of seven types of cotton seeds in the district.

A press release issued here on Monday said that the approved types of seeds for Toba Tek Singh district were: FH 900, FH 901, niab karishma, MNH 552, CIM 443, CIM 446 and CIM 373.

DONATION: The Australian government will donate various eye diseases treatment machines to the local DHQ Hospital.

A Health Department official said here on Monday that the Australian government would spend Rs4 million on the supply of machines.
