QUETTA, Aug 7: The National Party, Balochistan National Party -Mengal, Jamhoori Watan Party, Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Ideological and Hazara Democratic Party have supported the coalition parties’ decision to impeach President Musharraf who, they say, is responsible for the constitutional, political, judiciary and economic crises being faced by the country.

Commenting on the joint communiqué issued by the PPP and the PML-N, they said it was a positive step to rid the nation of dictatorship and ensure supremacy of parliament.

NP chief Dr Hayee Baloch said that a sovereign parliament, independent judiciary and recognition of the rights of provinces on their resources would strengthen democracy and stabilise the political system.

He said that for constitutional removal of one man would not be enough; it required the army and intelligence agencies to abandon their political role and the establishment to submit itself to a sovereign parliament.

Jamhoori Watan Party chief Nawabzada Talal Bugti said that with one resolute step to implement the impeachment decision Mr Asif Zardari would not only restore the credibility of the PPP leadership but would also rid the nation of an oppressor who was responsible for killings in Balochistan and tribal areas in military operations.

BNP-M’s acting president Sajid Tareen accused President Musharraf of the killing of Nawab Akbar Bugti and Nawabzada Balaach Marri. He also blamed him for the judiciary crisis and hike in prices of food stuff.

Maulana Asmatullah of JUI- Ideological said his group fully support the impeachment of President Musharraf who, according to him, was responsible for the deaths of innocent people at the hands of the United States in Afghanistan.

He also criticised the president for using army in Fata and eliminating local ulema.

Kohzad Hazara of the Hazara Democratic Party said the decision to impeach Musharraf should have been taken much earlier because the people had given their verdict against him in the February polls.

He said that parliament must impeach him for undermining the Constitution and creating the judicial crisis in the country.
