ISLAMABAD, Aug 5: The Establishment Division has asked all ministries and divisions to furnish lists of all contract employees of BPS-16 and above appointed by the previous government.
The departments have also been asked to provide details about people who had been re-employed after retirement — their names and designations, pay scales and perks, terms and conditions of the appointment, competent authority for appointment, rules or statutory provisions under which the appointments have been made, and justification for appointment with higher remunerations.
The decision to seek details of such appointments was taken in a meeting held last month under the chairmanship of federal Minister for Labour, Manpower and Overseas Pakistanis Syed Khursheed Shah.
The move has caused serious concern among contract employees who have expressed the fear that they might be fired to pave way for fresh appointments on political consideration.
It may be mentioned here that some senior officials, who were reemployed, have already been shown the door.
Included among them are secretary for religious affairs Wakil Ahmad Khan and chairman of the Federal Board of Revenue and revenue division’s secretary-general Abdullah Yousuf.
