MIRPURKHAS, Aug 4: Action committee of the sacked officers of the United Bank Limited demanded on Monday that the prime minister and co-chairman of Pakistan People’s Party get the bank reinstate all the sacked officers who had been forced into retirement in the name of downsizing in 1997.

The committee’s meeting presided over by Naeem Memon and attended by a large number of sacked bank officers from Mirpurkhas, Nawabshah and Hyderabad urged the two leaders to fulfil the promise of Benazir Bhutto by restoring them.

They said that Benazir Bhutto had promised during her addresses that she would reinstate the UBL officers who had been sacked in 1997 on the pretext of downsizing after her party came to power.

They said that they had been facing financial crisis since they had been forced into retirement without golden handshake.
