KARACHI, Aug 2: Karachi Port Trust (KPT) beat Navy 2-1 and Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) and Pakistan Steel played a goalless draw in the two Pakistan Premier Football League (PPFL) matches held at the City District Government Karachi (CDGK) Stadium and Pakistan Steel Township Ground, respectively, on Saturday evening.

The match at CDGK remained barren in the first half and scoring was opened by KPT’s striker Rehman in the 64th minute, followed by his second in the 76th when he converted midfielder Zahid Ahmed’s pass to him.

Navy’s reply came only in the injury time through their skipper Mohammad Ramzan, whose header couldn’t be blocked by KPT’s substitute goalkeeper Abdul Ghani, filling in for the injured Sajid Hussain. It was KPT’s third victory in the 182-match tournament.

Meanwhile, the encounter between PIA and Pakistan Steel at the Steel Town Ground was drawn 0-0 when both outfits failed to score after several missed chances including the penalty kick that was wasted by PIA’s skipper Nasrullah Khan in the 55th minute.

Sunday’s fixtures: KESC v Pakistan Elektron Limited at People’s Sports Complex, Karachi, at 5.30pm; Afghan FC v KRL at Govt High School, Chaman, at 5.30pm.
