Teacher strangled

LAHORE, Aug 2: A 65-year-old retired schoolteacher was found strangled in her house in Gulberg’s B-Block on Saturday morning.

Ghalib Market police said Razia Parveen was single and living alone in her house. She had complained to the police some time ago that Iftikhar, a clerk at the General Post Office, had misappropriated millions of rupees from her locker at the GPO and now he was threatening to kill her.

On Saturday, Ms Parveen’s part-time employees Zahoor Ahmed and Ashiq Masih came to her house for their routine work and rang the doorbell. There was no response from inside even after repeated efforts. Finally, Ahmed and Masih called Rescue 15.

The rescue police broke the lock and found Ms Parveen strangled inside. Her body was later sent for an autopsy.

Police have registered a murder case against unidentified men on the complaint of Ms Parveen’s brother Aslam Khawar, a resident of Islamabad. However, Khawar suspects Iftikhar has killed his sister.
