Bridge proposed over Indus

Published August 3, 2008

HYDERABAD, Aug 2: The district council on Saturday proposed to the federal government to build a new bridge over the River Indus to connect Hyderabad and Kotri as the existing one, which was built in 1887, was in a shambles.

The council adopted a resolution to this effect presented by Mohammad Ehsan resolution.

Ehsan said that the existing bridge had worn out and often required heavy maintenance and repair. It had been closed for several months for repairs, much to the inconvenience of people of Kotri and Hyderabad.

Members said that the new bridge should be built by the federal government and prime minister should announce the mega project.
