LAHORE, July 31: The Punjab government has decided to improve the diet of all prisoners with effect from August 1 (today), allocating an additional one billion rupees for the purpose.

The decision has been taken on chief minister’s directions, increasing the daily diet allowance of each prisoner from the existing Rs19.57 to Rs50.

According to the new menu, every prisoner would get chicken for four days and beef for two days a week. All prisoners would be given the best quality Super Kernal rice.

They would be given tetra pack milk tea twice a day, and paratha instead of simple roti in breakfast. They would also be given sherbet in summers.
