Pattinson set for Victoria move

MELBOURNE, July 30: Fast bower Darren Pattinson is set to end his international career with England after a single Test to play his future cricket for Victoria in Australian first-class competition.

The England-born, Australian-raised Pattinson, who made an inauspicious debut in England’s second Test loss to South Africa at Headingley, Leeds, will tell the England selectors he wants to play for Victoria next summer, he told an Australian radio station on Wednesday.

That decision makes a test recall for Pattinson unlikely and he acknowledged he is unlikely to pursue his Test career.

“A big part of it is me wanting to be in Australia for six months and playing for (Victoria),” he said.

“I’ve got a meeting with the (England) chairman of selectors in a few days to discuss a few things. But my family want to live in Melbourne, so that’s a big part of it.”—AP
