ISLAMABAD, July 26: A former senior officer of the Election Commissioner of Pakistan (ECP) has requested President Pervez Musharraf and Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani to save her career from being ruined and constitute an inquiry commission on the alleged illegal activities of a group in the commission.

Through a reminder former Election Commissioner of Balochistan Ms Nasreen Pervez has urged the president and the prime minister to order the incumbent Chief Election Commissioner to implement in letter and spirit the verdict of the Federal Services Tribunal (FST) that had directed the commission to withdraw her reversion order from BPS-20 to BPS-19 by restoring previous benefits and continuity in service in the interest of justice.

She alleged that she had already suffered a lot at the hands of the vested interest during the last 13 years as she was dismissed in 1995, made OSD (Officer on Special Duty) in 2001, illegally reverted to grade 19 and than sent on forced retirement in 2006 and all done with mala fide intention.

The reminder stated that she was made to suffer all the time though she got remedy from the FST and once from the Supreme Court in 2003, and both declared her innocent.

She said contrary to government policy, she was posted away from her hometown to Balochistan despite being a single woman, as some officials of Election Commission apprehended that her professional dedication, honesty and merit would impair their chances of promotion.

Though she was vindicated by the FST through clear orders of reinstatement, the present administration of the election commission was not implementing the orders of the tribunal, rather she was being dragged in the apex court, on which, she stated, she had no confidence.

She has requested the president and the prime minister to constitute a court of inquiry against the group and save the appellant form being rendered unemployed.

Meanwhile a senior officer of the commission when contacted said the commission would not like to give any comments since the matter was sub judice as an appeal against the orders of the FST was being pending before the Supreme Court.
