KHAR, July 25: Taliban militants took control on Friday of three security posts abandoned by paramilitary forces along the Afghan border in Bajaur.

Sources said that Bajaur Scouts had vacated the posts in Kaga Pass, Da Mangi Pass and Laiti in Mammond tehsil.

An official told Dawn that the posts were located in areas which had no strategic importance.

He said that logistically it was difficult to maintain the posts.

“Forces destroyed the infrastructure before leaving the area and the government is no more concerned about it,” the official said.

Paramilitary personnel moved out of the area and the Taliban immediately took over the posts and deployed their men.
