Published July 26, 2008

KARACHI, July 25: Expressing his dissatisfaction over the progress of various uplift schemes in the coastal areas, the Sindh Minister for Home and Forests, Dr Zulfiqar Ali Mirza, has ordered a probe into the alleged misappropriation of funds in the name of development.

He was presiding over a briefing to review the overall progress and the viability of various schemes pertaining to the Sindh Coastal Development Authority (SCDA).

Provincial ministers Sassui Palejo and Abdul Jalil Memon, MNA Dr Abdul Wahid Soomro and MPA Humaira Alwani also attended the briefing.

Dr Mirza stressed the need for proper co-ordination among various provincial departments linked one way or other to different schemes related to coastal development, in order to avoid duplication of components of various schemes. The meeting was told that six new and seven ongoing schemes would be completed under the ADP.—PPI
