PESHAWAR, July 19: The frequent robbery attempts and exchange of fire in Faqirabad locality has panicked residents who blame the local police for their failure to arrest gangsters.

Residents of Street-V, Faqirabad-II told this correspondent that groups of armed men were seen rambling in the area, most of them drug-addicts, who were involved in the narcotics business.

Due to exchange of firing recently, a minor girl, daughter of Amir Zaman, was injured in the locality. A resident said that at least three similar incidents occurred in the area during the past one week, saying that once the gangsters attacked the area in broad daylight. Another resident said that the four persons, holding pistols in their hands, were freely roaming in the area. When reported, the police arrived in the area but with a gap of 30 minutes.

The people demanded of the police high-ups to ensure regular police patrolling in the area and arrest those bent upon disrupting peace of the locality.

The officials of Faqirabad police station, when contacted, termed the incidents as personal matters of the local people.— Bureau Report
