KARACHI, July 16: An anti-terrorism court adjourned the hearing of a case pertaining to the kidnap and murder of a young man till July 18 and summoned Judicial Magistrate Khalil Anwar Jaffari to record his statement.
According to the prosecution, police found the body of a 21-year-old man on February 14 near the Premier College in North Nazimabad police limits. The deceased was identified next day as Kamal, son of Abdul Haq. After initial investigations, the police arrested the accused on Feb 16.
The charge-sheet says that Kamal wanted to marry the daughter of Abul Kalam. However, the girl’s family opposed the proposal that led to many disputes between both the families.
On Feb 13 the accused along with his son, Abdul Razzaq, and a relative, Mahjil Hussain, killed Kamal and dumped the body near Premier College, it adds.
Mahjil Hussain has been declared absconder in the case.
IO submits charge-sheet
The investigation officer in a woman’s kidnap for ransom case submitted a charge-sheet in court of the administrative judge of the anti-terrorism courts, Karachi, on Wednesday.
Judge Khawaja Naveed Ahmed, while accepting the charge-sheet, transferred the case to ATC-II for trial.
According to the prosecution, Mohammad Ikramullah kidnapped Mahnaz, wife of Umer Naveed, and demanded Rs2 million as ransom on April 29 in Gizri police limits.
The accused later collected the ransom and released the women.
