SUKKUR, July 9: Differences have emerged among lawyers’ fraternity of Sukkur upon inviting Chief Justice Abdul Hameed Dogar to address the district bar association on July 14.

The newly elected body of Sukkur District Bar Association has invited Chief Justice of Pakistan, Justice Abdul Hameed Dogar to address the bar association on July 14.

Score of lawyers led by Madad Ali Shah and Rashid Durrani have staged a protest demonstration outside the district bar against DBA President Shafqat Rahim and General Secretary Noor Hassan Malik.

The protesting lawyers told journalists that the office-bearers of the bar had not taken bar members into confidence before inviting the chief justice.

They said it was a unanimous decision of all bars of the country that any judge who had taken an oath under the PCO would not be invited to address the bar.

They said the office-bearers had invited the chief justice to address the bar and the move was aimed to damage the lawyer’s struggle for the restoration of deposed judges. They further claimed that, a large number of lawyers would boycott the address of the chief justice.

A PARK NOT FOR PUBLIC: A public park situated in Rohri town has been closed for public but remains open for commercial purpose, including marriage ceremonies and other programmes.
