Police nab kidnapper

SUKKUR, July 9: Police arrested a man on Wednesday morning and found in his captivity a minor boy who had been kidnapped from Badami Bagh area of Lahore a week ago.

Sources in the police said that the accused Shabbir Hussain kidnapped Abdul Shakoor, 8, son of Abdul Ghafoor Arain from Badami Bagh area of Lahore on July 3. Two days later on July 5, he contacted the boy’s father on phone and demanded Rs500,000 as ransom for release of his son.

Abdul Ghafoor informed police about the phone call after having traced the call to a public call office in Sukkur and rushed to Sukkur with Sub-Inspector Mohammad Boota and a police party, the sources said.

The police official with the help of SHO of B-Section Sukkur Abdul Malik Kamangar raided various places for two days and succeeded in arresting the accused from Khursheed Memorial Park on Wednesday.
