LAHORE, July 9: The area people and the Anjuman-i-Tajiran Autoparts, Misri Shah, staged a demonstration on Wednesday against the Misri Shah police for illegally detaining three people.

Police, however, claimed they had arrested the three criminals with illegal weapons from Iron Market on Monday.

The protesters gathered at Chowk Misri Shah and blocked the road, burnt used tyres and woods.

Carrying placards and banners, they also chanted slogans against the SHO for detaining innocent people under the pretext of a crackdown on drug pushers and anti-social elements.

They called upon the Punjab government to suspend SHO Naveed Azam and take strict action against him.

The moharrar said a patrolling team took Rizwan, Imran and Shahbaz into custody for aerial firing.

He claimed the arrested criminals were robbers and a case was registered against them under sections 389 and 402 of the PPC.
