LAHORE, July 8: The first National Women Twenty20 Quadrangular cricket championship will be held in Karachi from July 18 to 27.

The event is a part of the Pakistan Cricket Board’s plan to prepare a team for the ICC Twenty20 World Cup scheduled to be held in 2009.

Teams representing North Zone (Peshawar, Abbottabad, Islamabad), Central Zone Blues (Lahore, Sialkot), Central Zone Greens (Multan, Faisalabad, Rawalpindi) and South Zone (Karachi, Hyderabad, Quetta) will take part in the championship.

Before the event, training camps are scheduled to be held in Islamabad, Faisalabad, Lahore and Karachi with a view to give the teams combine practice.

The teams will arrive in Karachi on July 16.

League matches will be played at the Steel Mills ground while the final will be played at the National Stadium, Karachi.
