ISLAMABAD, July 8: The central committee of the All Parties Democratic Movement is meeting here on Wednesday to set the agenda for talks among the heads of various parties and to work out a plan for action.
The meeting, to be presided over by Liaquat Baloch, also finalise the date for a meeting of the APDM leadership.
Mr Baloch said the political situation had not changed despite the fact that an elected government was in place, adding that there was deterioration on all fronts.
He said national economy was rapidly declining while the common man had to bear “unbridled and unprecedented hike in prices of almost all items of daily use”.
He said for more than three months, the APDM had been waiting for the coalition government to overcome difficulties it had inherited from the previous government.
But, he said, it had neither resolved the matter of restoration of the pre-Nov 3 judiciary nor had done anything to impeach the president. The APDM leadership, he said, believed that the situation was worsening by the day.
Commenting on the lawyers’ movement, he said: “It is an independent entity which can take steps independently but as far as the APDM is concerned, it will extend its fullest support to the lawyers to achieve their objectives.”
He said the country was under tremendous pressure from the United States to fight its own people but the national interest required that all issues should be resolved through dialogue.
