MIRPURKHAS, July 6: Differences between the DCO and the district nazim of Umerkot have taken new a turn with the revenue department authorities of Umerkot declaring a large portion of the district nazim’s bungalow an encroachment and a report has been sent to higher authorities for legal action.

The differences between Umerkot DCO Ghulam Akbar Laghari and District Nazim Faqir Maghan Mangrio have further deepened with both levelling allegations against each other.

A large portion of the district nazim’s bungalow which is situated opposite the Umerkot Session Court has been declared an encroachment.

Out of total 7768 square feet of the bungalow 4138 feet have been declared illegal possession of the government land.

This was declared after a revenue department team, led by EDO Revenue of Umerkot Fareed Ahmed Junejo, measured the bungalow and allegedly found its half portion constructed on government’s land.

The EDO revenue said that he had received a complaint that the half portion of the zila nazim’s bungalow was constructed on government plot. And after completion of a survey they had recommended to authorities concerned to take action under the anti-encroachment act, he said.

District Nazim Faqeer Maghan Mangrio said that bungalows of many other influential people had illegally been constructed on government land, and therefore all should be brought to book under the anti-encroachment drive.

He said that if it was proved that half portion of his bungalow was constructed on the government land then he would pay its price to the government.

On the other hand he held the Umerkot DCO responsible for the lapse of time to utilise Rs240 million due to the non-cooperation of the DCO. He said the amount could have been spent on development.
