220 arrested in NWFP

ISLAMABAD, July 3: The government claimed on Thursday to have arrested 220 criminals during operations in Peshawar and Khyber Agency.

According to a press release issued by the interior ministry, 128 alleged violators of law were arrested in Peshawar and 92 in the Khyber Agency.

A large quantity of arms and ammunition and narcotics was seized.

It said the action against militants in Khyber Agency and Peshawar continued with success, adding that the purpose of the operation was to restore normalcy and law and order without collateral losses.
