KARACHI, July 2: The International Cricket Council (ICC) has turned down Pakistan Cricket Board’s request of not posting umpire Ian Gould for the Pakistan matches and the former England player was on Wednesday seen officiating the crunch Asia Cup game against India.

Sources told Dawn that Pakistan coach Geoff Lawson had submitted a written complaint to the ICC against Gould with suggestions that he should not be appointed for the host team matches. However, Gould was very much there to officiate the crucial match against India on Wednesday which was a must-win game for the home side.

It may be mentioned here that the PCB, in the past, has been asking the ICC not to appoint Australian umpire Darrel Hair for its matches but no definite decision has been made on the issue as yet.
