Published October 7, 2001

ISLAMABAD, Oct 6:The 2nd SAF-Karakoram international car rally, from Lahore to Khunjrab pass, will be staged soon after the SAF Games in April next.

The exact date of the rally will be decided in the next few days. However, it is expected to be staged in the second week of April after the SAF Games are over on April 8, PTDC sources said here on Saturday.

The rally was scheduled to be held from Sept 24 to 29 this year but had to be postponed along with the Oct 6-15 SAF Games.

According to PTDC sources there is usually snowfall in March in the Northern Areas and as such, it would be most suitable to hold the rally in the second week of April.

The rally will be held under the auspices of Pakistan Tourism Development of Pakistan (PTDC) in collaboration with Joint Staff Headquarters.

The SAF Game secretariat will also sponsor the rally which is likely to be participated by the foreigners also.—APP
