HYDERABAD, June 26: The leaders of the Tandojam Ittehad Committee have appealed to the authorities to take notice of a potentially explosive situation which has developed over the possession of a mosque in Tandojam.

While speaking at a news

conference at the press club here on Thursday, the chairman of the committee, Rao Ronaq Ali, Sunni Tehrik leader Mohammad Amin Qadri and others said that a mosque had been constructed at Sikandarabad colony in Tandojam by the founder of the colony, late Ali Mohammad Nahiyoon, which was known as Madina Masjid since last 25 years.

However, they alleged that in 2004, a man belonging to another sect tried to gain control of the mosque.

The matter was reported to the SHO who gave the decision in favour of the Sunni Tehrik.

They claimed that an overwhelming majority of the people of the area belonged to their school of thought.

However, they claimed that, through misrepresentation of facts this person got the mosque registered in the name of another school of thought in 2006.

They said that when the people of the colony approached the SHO, the TPO, the DPO and the union council nazim, a decision was again given in favour of the Sunni Tehrik.

However, they claimed that the leaders of the other sect were again trying to take over the possession of the mosque.

They said that a case was also pending in the civil court of Hyderabad and appealed to the authorities to take notice of the situation to avoid any bloodshed.
